WHERE IS SANDY MEVORAH? WHERE IS SHERMAN GOTTLIEB? WHERE IS JACK DALE? WHERE IS AL STEIN? WHERE IS BETSY WOLFSON?
Ronnie's logged in? Great! Now, if we can get Leslie, Sally, Michelle and the rest of us together, maybe I'd show up! For the Searcher: you should check the registry before you put out an APB. I've been visiting the site now and then. For the meatloaf mavin: as I recall, anything that you could get the waiters to bring ketchup for was somewhat edible.
Can you imagine the shock and amazement when, while perusing the website, I signed onto the registry and there was the name of the most magnificent, Bwana herself, Ronnie Spilton. Can this be true? or is someone playing games? Is this another tease by the nefarious Jeff Burgler, webmaster extraordinaire? Hey, kids, maybe its time for another reunion. (But I do find it hard to believe that the highlight of Ronnie's Mar-Lin career was that she was an Olympic captain)
WHERE IS MIKE MORAN? WHERE IS JIM PIAZZA? WHERE IS TOM O'SHAUGHNESSY? WHERE IS MARILYN KRAVITZ? WHERE IS ARTHUR AARON?
Hey! I'm intriguing a Mar-Lin guy! I remember sitting writing letter after letter to the boys in the city who were really so much better...when Ethel was around we said the the Mar-Lin boys were really quite a pity. But I don't know that I believed it.
Dear Unedela, I must say that you intrigue me. I don't remember any Frenchies at camp, except during Olympics, so you must be hiding your true identity. But thtas okay. I don't remember Dora and the jello, but I can swear that we had meat loaf at least twice a week. Sometimes it was disguised as the meat sauce on the spaghetti, and somtimes it was that crap on Sunday afternoon that passed for roast beef, but we always knew it was really the same old meat loaf. As a matter of fact , one year, can't remember which one, but for the yearbook I wrote the definitive dissertation on The Thirty-Four Uses of the Basic Mar-Lin Meat Loaf. I'm sure you read it.
WHERE IS BILLY NEIGHER? WHERE IS NORMAN ROOS? WHERE IS HARRIET NEIDORF? WHERE IS SEYMOUR KRAMER? WHERE IS ALICE MICHTOM?
Of course you're forgiven."...and to Dora, we think you are mellowbut we wish you'd stop serving us Jello."
Sorry, French chick, or French guy,or whatever. But you do raise some interesting points. I love the marshmallow charges. I remember one for the powdered eggs at one of the overnights--that place in the mountains where they had a swimming hole that was minus 20 degrees. You know the name? I think it was something Forest. Anyway, we didn't have much contact with Dora, but the answer to your question has to be meat loaf. It seems that we were always getting meat loaf. She seemed like a nice enough lady who liked t yell a lot. I probably shouldn't say that, because she was somebody's mother or grandmother or something. But not Kathy's. Kathy had no earthly parents. She was born from a dream, or directly descended from the Olympian gods and goddesses. That's the only explanation for her perfection.
WHERE IS JOEL SATZ? WHERE IS GEORGE HERTZ? WHERE IS LARRY RATNER? WHERE IS LINA LAWALL? WHERE IS JAY GROMAN?
Guy? GUY!? I am offended! But you're right about the strange canteen accounts. I remember a three cent charge for marshmallows at a campfire. Honest! As for Dora cooking the books, T. P., what did we think of her and what did we wish she's stop serving us?
WHERE IS SHELLY WISHNY? WHERE IS ROBIN STIEBER? WHERE IS EDNA TARAS? WHERE IS JEFF NEVINS? WHERE IS MARGIE PINDUS?
Thanks for the history lesson, French guy. Its hard to believe that Charley borrowed anything from catholic schools. I would have figured there was something in the Talmud about it. And those extra charges for everything! My folks thought I was spending $10 a day at the canteen with all the hidden costs of being a camper. Charley soaked them for everything, from the $15 haircuts to the $40 front row seats at summer stock. But with old lady Dora cooking the books, I'll bet it looked like he was taking a bath every year. By the way, what was the name of the theater where we saw all those summer stock shows?
Charlie didn't invent the six inch rule - he "borrowed" it from Catholic High Schools where students were admonished at dances to leave room for the Holy Spirit. And yes, horseback riding was extra.
WHERE IS HOWIE ROY? WHERE IS MIKE BRESSACK? WHERE IS IRENE MOGILEFSKY? WHERE IS ED LITKE? WHERE IS JACKIE ROTH?
What was a Blonde Abigail? Whatever happened to Larry Phillips-he was a funny guy on these boards. Did Charley invent the six-inch rule? Did the folks have to pay extra for horseback riding?
Nadine Kent is alive and well and living in Manhattan. She didn't think anyone even remembered her.
WHERE IS NADINE KENT? WHERE IS NORMAN GRAHAM? WHERE IS ROGER GOREN? WHERE IS PAUL COPEN? WHERE IS CARRIE CHALFIN?
WHERE IS PAUL BECKERMAN? WHERE IS FREDDY LURIE? WHERE IS BONNIE BLITZ? WHERE IS BRADLEY RAININ? WHERE IS SCOTT CALEV?
Stop already with all the names of these dead campers! Why don't you find the real people who are alive and bereathing like Kathy Stone? Just want you to know that I am still here and missing you Kathy. If camp was open today, would we still watch movies on the tennis courts or in the mess hall, or would Uncle Charley have TVs and VCRs in every bunk? Could you imagine that instead of Flag Rush, we had a camp-wide game of Paint Ball? GO RED SOX!
WHERE IS LOUISE MILLER? WHERE IS JANET GLUNTS? WHERE IS DEE DEE GERSHENSON? WHERE IS BETSY FREEDMAN? WHERE IS FRAN SCHWARTZMAN?
WHERE IS NICKI BERMAN? WHERE IS CARL SCHWARTZ? WHERE IS NANCY CANDIB? WHERE IS ADRIENNE RADDING? WHERE IS GLENN FAUST?
Richie Halpern is doing fine, as anyone who attended the last reunion can attest to. Further, I am sure he can be easily found at most Red Sox games. (Look in the good seats only).
WHERE IS BOBBI SCHWARTZ? WHERE IS CAROL GOODMAN? WHERE IS PEGGY GREENWALD? WHERE IS HARRIET BURDEN? WHERE IS NANCY POSNICK?
Time to start filling out your dance cards for the Mar-Lin 2000 Prom!
as one who was often the target of the mar-lin social police(further apart while dancing, where were you at 1AM last night?)and later a woodstock attendee, is jimy the proper music for the mar-lin bulletin board? I seem to remember You Can't Sit Down and Seal it With a KIss
WHERE IS DAVE OSHINSKY? WHERE IS STACEY SELDEN? WHERE IS RACHEL GROSS? WHERE IS LILLIAN SAXE? WHERE IS RICHIE HALPERN?
In case anyone is interested in a Mar-Lin pioneer, I found Howie Holland -- a Junior Counselor from the early '50s -- on his boat Angel Eyes II in Newport, RI. He's in the advertising business, was a radio personality in Providence and his e-mail address is temmaholla@aol.com.Regards to all.

Vicky Gany lives in Florida. She is doing fine.
So I'm standing here outside Cabin 10, waiting for Flag Rush to begin. I'm freezing my ass off because its one of those frosty Connecticut late summer days. I didn't sleep too well because someone stole both of my jelly rolls, and all I had left was one thin blanket. Breakfast this morning was pancakes--the leftover ones are going to be used for the discus in the Olympics. We're heading into the final stretch now. Will Kathy go to the prom with me. Oops, I forgot, no dates!!!
WHERE IS PERRY ITKIN? WHERE IS LENNY PROSNITZ? WHERE IS VICKY GANY? WHERE IS ALAN RINGEL? WHERE IS SCOTT CALEV?
OK Campers! Get ready to rock and roll!Flagrush starts in 30 minutes.
WHERE IS MARTY JACOBSON? WHERE IS JEFF NEVINS? WHERE IS MARCY BERG? WHERE IS ELLIE HARMAN? WHERE IS BOB CIMBERG?
The trivia person remembers Billy Goren, but could not find the article in question. Someone want to clue me in on this? I hope it has nothing to do with his taking advantage of the Lovely Kathy.
For those of you who were at camp in the early-mid sixties, and remember Billy Goren, check out today's (7/7/00) issue of Newsday (www.newsday.com) on page 4.
WHERE IS DANNY FREEDMAN? WHERE IS BOB SWEDLOW? WHERE IS LENNY RITTER? WHERE IS JERRY SOBEL? WHERE IS CARL SHULKIN?
to the person who asked about Gary Berlin. I was in his bunk 1962, I believe.Time certainly has passed. Hope all is well.. Who are you?
WHERE IS SANDY SILVER? WHERE IS LARRY RIVKIN? WHERE IS CORA SUMMERSHINE? WHERE IS SUE WEINER? WHERE IS JANICE KATZ?
Hi trivia man and everyone else. It's nice to be remembered, eventhough I don't know who is remembering me. Maybe some day you will reveal your identity. I hope everyone is doing well. Have reunion plans been made for the future?
I remind myself of Rip Van Winkle. I hibernate for a month, and there is absolutely nothing new in the Mar-Lin world. Come on, campers, where the hell is everyone? Just one little message from Eileen Kent, who managed to haul her ass out of the boathouse for a while and visit her computer. And where is the searcher dude? Has he really found everyone he's looking for? This has put trivia person into a foul mood. He is ready to visit your cabin and strip all the beds! Beware... By the way, Hi Kathy and Randy.
Hi everyone! I can't believe it will soon be a year since we all saw each other. I miss you all and wish we could get together soon. Eileen
I just returned from dinner with Aunt Ethel and Linda, at the REO DINER, in WoodbridgeN.J. Ethel is up north to celebrate Passover with Linda and Bob, and her grand daughterFarah. She is also going to Barbara and Barry Weinbaum's son's Bar Mitzvah.I gave Linda a check for the funds collected for the Charles M. Browdy Memorial. We thank all who contributed so generously. The money will go towards erecting several benches, with plaques, honoring Charley as founder of Camp Mar-Lin.Ethel looked well, and is adjusting slowly to her new life without Charley. Linda isfine, too, and sends all her very best. All contributors will soon be getting a personal thank you from Linda and Ethel. I will keep you up to date on when we will have a dedication.
Thanks to these two top dogs, the searcher and the finder, for keeping at least something interesting around here. Did you notice who signed onto the registry? Phyllis Krasow-boy, was she one good-looking babe. Right up there with Sue Ferris, Linda Burlakoff, and the fabulous Sunny-Jo. Of course, none could hold a candle to the lovely Kathy, but she was so much younger. And Frank Small is a teacher? Right there is what's wrong with the kids in America! He was one crazy boy.
Frank Small is a teacher on Long Island. If you find Karen Levine can Nancy Candib be far behind?
The Rock is in Florida. As far as Gary Berlin goes, East or West?
WHERE IS GARY BERLIN? WHERE IS EDDIE LIEBLICK? WHERE IS IRIS MENDRICK? WHERE IS FRANK SMALL? WHERE IS KAREN LEVINE?
Paul Weinbaum now lives in Maryland.
WHERE IS LENNY LAZARUS? WHERE IS BOB BUHLER? WHERE IS PAULIE WEINBAUM? WHERE IS ELLEN GURIAN? WHERE IS JEFF GRANT?
to the person looking for harry forstadt:harry is living in rego park and his wife recently had ababy girl.
Dear Searcher:I think that Harry Forstadt lives in Flushing.Hope this helps.
I hope all of you had a vacation as good as mine. Now back to the fun. You did okay on nicknames, and its good to see that the vivacious Kathy is still around. That hair, those lips, them curves. Kathy, were you ever my date for the Prom? I just can't remember anymore. Whose brilliant idea was "Paper Bag Night"? What was the cook's day off? And who made the best meat loaf? How much did your mommy tip? What was the name of the place where the counsellors went to drink?
Trivia man,What memories are you refering to? I knew you weren't the tin man. Are we ever going to get a hint at who you are? You don't want me to lose interest, do you?
Very good, answer people. You were right on point. As for the others, somebody must remember them and their real names. I hope Kathy ain't meeting no damn pioneering specialist down at the boathouse. If she is, maybe we can get the bountiful Randy to come down and we'll make it a foursome. And I'm not no tinman, whatever the hell that means. I'm more of the woody variety. Oh Kathy, if only we could live on memories alone........
WHERE IS HAROLD KAPLAN? WHERE IS MIKE FIERBERG? WHERE IS HARRY FORSTADT? WHERE IS ANDY CALEV (THE ETERNAL DSOTY)? WHERE IS HOWIE SOLOMON?
Hi Kathy, don't miss the Campfire at the boathouse tonight.
Aardvaark = Eddie Shelasky
Hi trivia manI,m so glad I've been missed. Randy seems to think you might be the tinman, any truth to this? We know of his fixation with her pulchritude.
Lurch = Lester Newman Rebel= Howard Hirsch
O Frodo, you poor callow youth. All these people were real, but you may be a bit too young to remember them. Where are all the former greats who would recognize the master's questions? Especially, the Stoned girls, who would not only know all of these people, but were probably closer than that tomost of them, if you get my drift. Kathy, come back, and know that you are loved and admired. Okay, you too Randy, and I even apologize for those remarks I made. I always did admire your pulchritude.
Who are all these people..I went to Mar-lin too, and don't recognize any of this stuff. Circa '67/'68
Okay, campers, what were their real names: Lurch, Rebel, Wojey, aardvark, Pahoo, and the Troll?
FLAG RAISING DELAYED 2 HOURS TODAY!Flag raising will be delayed while Joe plows around the flagpole and to give the blockhouse boys time to shovel a path through the snow to the girls cabins. This afternoon we will continue the Ice Sculpture Competition on the Large Ballfield. Be sure to wear your Camp Mar-Lin flannel shorts and insulated T-Shirt.
WHERE IS JANE RABINOWITZ? WHERE IS JOANNIE MARCUSSON? WHERE IS ABBEY SCHECHTMAN? WHERE IS GAIL CANTOR?
Campers, the third campfire was the Memory Campfire, usually held the last Thursday of camp. How can we forget the tears as the candles floated off into the muddy waters of the Farmington River? By the way, methinks that Nancy Posnick was the sister of Sue Posnick. Or maybe her mother. And hearty congrats to LP for almost getting the answer to the math question. Now, I'm still trying to complete a survey. Help me out. How many people met at Mar-Lin and got married (to each other)? Are any of them still married?
thanks for the special question, I guess it needs special math, as special as I may be, I may need the gift of the trivia person to answer this...Do your best
Hey, searcher, wasn't it SUE Posnik? She bunked with Nancy Rosenbaum.
WHERE IS NANCY PINDUS? WHERE IS NANCY HANKIN? WHERE IS NANCY POSNICK? WHERE IS NANCY ZIEKY? WHERE IS NANCY WALDMAN?
Bradley Field Newgate Prision and Friendlys, Friendship Indian and ? campfire .... Rule 1 don't participate 2 hang out in the woods with your friends 3 don't get caught by Marty.
Excellent, answer person. Someone actually paid attention to those stupid songs. Now, name three hiking destinations, name three different campfires, and tell me what were the real rules for the Gold Rush.
WE'RE HERE BECAUSE WE'RE HERE...IN AMONG THE PINES THERE IS A CAMP WE ALL ADORE...MRS. SHADY WAS A LADY, SHE HAD A DAUGHTER, THAT I ADORED...JOHN JACOB JINGLEHEIMER SCHMIDT, HIS NAME WAS MY NAME, TOO (GOD FORBID!)
Why are we here? What is in among the pines? Who was Mrs. Shady? Whose name is my name too? Special question for Larry Phillips: If there were 96 bottles of beer on the wall and one fell, how many would be left?
My daughter Brenna and I have always held camp as a sacred place for chlidren to grow up in. I will always remember Mar-Lin and Uncle Charlie as a significant part of my childhood. I am so glad that I was able to share the wonderful reunion with him in June. My thoughts are with Ethel and Linda. Love, Eileen
I was fortunate to have been able to attend the funeral of Uncle Charley on Christmas Eve. I flew half way across the country to be there, and ironically, it was my birthday. In a bittersweet way, I have not had a more poignant & meaningful birthday in years. It was an intimate gathering of family, friends, and Mar-liners, & we heard Selma's kind, comforting eulogy. After the funeral, we stood in a surreal sub-freezing cold, as Linda poured dirt from Mar-lin into the gravesite. I never would have thought in 1967, that 32 years later, I would join friends in performing the ancient & important Jewish custom of shoveling dirt onto the casket of Uncle Charley, a man who helped shape my life. As many of you now know, Charley planned that the attendees eat lunch together afterwards @ a pre-determined restaurant, and that is exactly what Ethel did. It was a celebration; no time for crying; we did that earlier. We do not know how great people are until they are gone, & I believe those of us who grew up in the shadow of those wonderful summers only realize now the significance of our experience. I am not one of those who is stuck in time, and have long since moved on. However, the memories of the 1960's and 1970's as a young boy in Windsor Locks are truly special to me and prove those were special times. Charley is gone, but his effect lives on in all of us. Bruce Newman.
The following is part of a letter that I sent out to the Camp Mar-Lin mailing list:I visited with Linda and Ethel last night, at Linda's home in New Jersey. we discussed donations in Charley's honor. They have decided that it was Charley's wish that there be some sort of recognition at the camp. They previously had directed donations be made to the JCC of Greater Hartford. However, they are concerned that the funds may get mingled with other fund raising efforts at the JCC. Therefore, I have volunteered to open an account for donations to be collected for some permanent recognition of Charley's founding of Camp Mar-Lin. The ideas that Linda and Ethel have at this time range from a bench with a plaque, up to a new building; of course this depends on the donations received. If you are interested in contributing to a permanent memorial to Uncle Charley, please send a check payable to:The Charles M. Browdy Memorial FundC/O Jeff Berger18 Oak PlaceNorth Caldwell, NJ 07006All contributions will be acknowledged, and we will keep you up to date regarding the memorial and date of dedication. Thank you.
